SpaceX just completed the first successful launch and landing of their Falcon 9 rocket at Cape Canaveral in Florida, on December 21.
Shortly after the rocket launched around 8:30 p.m., SpaceX recovered the first stage of the rocket by landing it vertically on a landing pad.
It was a huge accomplishment for SpaceX, and the company is now well on its way toward revolutionizing spaceflight.

The rocket carried 11 satellites into orbit for the company OrbComm, Inc.
