A fleet of NASA robots just flew through a magnetic explosion in space

When magnetic fields collide and realign in space, it causes an invisible explosion called a magnetic reconnection. NASA recently recorded this phenomenon for the first time using four of its Magnetospheric Multiscale mission spacecraft.
