- Just in time for Halloween, NASA has released a photo of the sun that looks like the fact of a giant, fiery pumpkin.
- The ultraviolet image was taken in October 2014, but released on NASA's Facebook and Twitter pages on Sunday.
- The photo was taken by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory, which constantly watches the sun from its orbit in space.
- The more active regions of the sun appear brighter because they emit more light and energy, according to NASA.
- "This image blends together two sets of wavelengths at 171 and 193 angstroms, typically colorized in gold and yellow, to create a particularly Halloween-like appearance," the agency said.
